The Carpathians. Just evokating this name makes one dream ! Since the apparition of mountain-biking in this corner of Europe, it has become an evidence the Beskids are exceptionally beautiful to ride.
Barania Góra is a 1220m mountain where Poland's longest river, the Vistula, takes its source. Remote in the heart of the Silesian Beskids, its outlook tower provides stunning views to a wide part of the Carpathians. Many ridges featured with trails converge to the top and make it a fantastic mountain biking goal.
Despite a bit of hike-and-bike in the final part when climbing from the Przysłop hut, the effort is well rewarded. A wonderful ridge follows on Zielony Kopiec and Magurka Wiślańska, before a long and uninterrupted descent back to Wisła via the east ridge.

Wisła is the local mountain resort. It is very quickly reached from the huge agglomeration of Katowice, driving straight south.
Near the convergence of three international borders, it is equally reached from Czech Republic via Olomouc, or Slovakia from Bratislava and the western motorway of this small country.

Below is a map of the loop. It is advised to do it anticlockwise as described, to make the most benefit of the generous surface when climbing up, and enjoying the ridge singletracks when riding down. The ridge ride can be extended via the Malinka top until the road pass Przełęcz Salmopolska.
